ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s seafood exports have recorded a historic increase, rising by 38% over the past two years as the country makes significant progress in strengthening its blue economy.
According to the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, seafood exports increased from $406 million in 2023-24 to $568 million in 2025-26, reflecting a substantial growth in the sector.
The ministry said Pakistani seafood products are reaching major international markets, including China, Japan, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and the United States.
The increase in exports marks a significant development for Pakistan’s blue economy and highlights growing demand for the country’s seafood products in global markets.
The Ministry of Maritime Affairs also said Pakistan’s seafood exports are making progress in restoring confidence in European markets following the European Union’s ban on Pakistani seafood imports in 2007.
The renewed access and growing demand in international markets are expected to provide further opportunities for Pakistan’s fisheries and seafood processing industry.
The government has been focusing on expanding the country’s maritime economy and increasing the contribution of fisheries and other marine-related sectors to national exports.
The latest export figures showed that seafood is emerging as an important contributor to Pakistan’s foreign exchange earnings, with the sector showing strong growth over the past two years.
