VATICAN CITY – Chairman of Pakistan’s Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad met Pope Leo at the Vatican, bringing together two prominent voices of spirituality and peace.
The rate meeting took place during an international event attended by religious scholars, clerics, and leaders from diverse faiths across the world, all gathered under one roof to promote peace and understanding among nations.
During their discussion, Maulana Azad and Pope Leo spoke passionately about the urgent need to strengthen interfaith harmony, end global violence, and promote respect for humanity. Both leaders agreed that only through dialogue and compassion can the world overcome division and conflict.
As a gesture of goodwill, Maulana Azad presented the Pope with the book Paigham-e-Pakistan, a national initiative that embodies Pakistan’s message of peace, tolerance, and coexistence. Azad stressed that “interfaith harmony is the need of the hour”, adding that open dialogue among religions can become the foundation for lasting world peace. He urged people everywhere to reject extremism and embrace mutual respect and understanding.
Pope Leo commended Maulana Azad’s efforts and reiterated the importance of building bridges among faiths. He called for deeper cooperation between religious communities to promote peaceful coexistence around the globe.
Before concluding, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad extended a heartfelt invitation to Pope Leo to visit Pakistan, expressing hope that such an exchange would further strengthen interfaith relations and global unity.
