KARACHI – Pakistan is set to hold delayed general elections in early February as the Asian nation grapples with overlapping political, and economic crises, and now Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir assured the upcoming polls to be held in early Feb.

The country’s top general held meeting with the Pakistani-US business community during his visit to the United States, and he assured polls on time.

General Asim’s remark came after Pakistan’s apex court issued a verdict on February 8. COAS interacted with Pakistani diaspora during the official visit, and responded to a businessman who asked a question about the upcoming polls.

Noted business Tanveer Ahmed quoted COAS as saying, ‘As far as I know general elections will be held on the 8th of February.’

In Pakistan, submitting nomination papers kicked off to participate in the general elections in 2024. Candidates are now submitting the nomination papers till December 22.

In next phase, the preliminary list of candidates will be released and the scrutiny process will start. Electoral symbols will be allotted to the candidates next month.
