WASHINGTON – United States approved advanced technology upgrade for Pakistan’s F-16 fighter jets. Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) sent a formal letter to the U.S. Congress seeking approval for the comprehensive package for Pakistan.

Pakistan’s F-16 aircraft will receive upgrades in data links and avionics, along with cryptographic and identification systems. The package also includes training, logistical support, special tools, spare parts, and other essential systems, ensuring full operational enhancement.

Officials state that this upgrade will extend3 the operational life of Pakistan’s F-16 fleet until 2040, while significantly improving joint operations and training between the United States and Pakistan.

The total value of the package is approximately $686 million (68.6 crore USD). According to defense experts, this decision is aimed at strengthening joint security initiatives and counter-terrorism efforts.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan has warmly welcomed the U.S. decision, highlighting it as a positive step in bilateral defense cooperation.
