Faiz Hameed’s appeal against sentence goes to Army Chief as his lawyer ‘hopes for Justice’

Faiz Hameeds Appeal Against Sentence Goes To Army Chief As His Lawyer Hopes For Justice

ISLAMABAD – Former ISI Chief General (retd) Faiz Hameed is taking his legal battle to the highest office of the military. According to his lawyer, Barrister Mian Ali Ashfaq, the first forum for appealing his sentence is none other than the Army Chief himself.

Speaking to the media, Ashfaq said “We have instructions to challenge the sentence immediately. Once we get a copy of the verdict, we will file our appeal without delay.”

The lawyer also described Faiz Hameed as undaunted and resilient, having faced over 8,000 questions in cross-examination during the court-martial. “Not a single witness produced by the prosecution could support the charges against him,” Ashfaq claimed. “In our view, this case is won a thousand percent, but the court’s decision stands. We hope justice will prevail in the next forum.”

Ashfaq added that proceedings were historic, stating, “This is the first court-martial in Pakistan where full transparency was pursued to the highest level possible, although certain restrictions were imposed.”

Faiz Hameed, who was charged on December 6 and formally tried from December 13, has reportedly shown remarkable courage and determination, withstanding the grueling court-martial process with unwavering composure.

The appeal now rests with the Army Chief, signaling that this case could become one of the most high-profile and closely watched legal battles in Pakistan’s history.
