Cement despatches in Pakistan recorded a decline of 0.70% in August 2026, with total volumes falling to 4.039 million tons compared with 4.068 million tons in the same month of the previous fiscal year.
According to data released by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) on Wednesday, domestic cement despatches stood at 3.283 million tons in August 2026, down 1.07% from 3.318 million tons recorded in August 2025.
Meanwhile, cement exports posted a slight increase of 0.92%, rising to 756,553 tons from 749,683 tons a year earlier.
North-based cement manufacturers despatched 2.691 million tons during August 2026, representing a 9.43% decline from 2.972 million tons in August 2025. In contrast, South-based mills registered a strong 22.97% increase, with despatches reaching 1.35 million tons compared with 1.096 million tons in the corresponding month last year.
Domestic despatches by North-based mills fell 2.59% to 2.691 million tons from 2.763 million tons. South-based manufacturers, however, increased their local despatches by 6.53% to 591,164 tons from 554,947 tons.
North-based mills recorded no cement exports during August 2026. South-based mills, on the other hand, saw exports surge 39.83% to 756,553 tons from 541,054 tons in August 2025.
July-August Cement Despatches
Despite the monthly decline, overall cement despatches during the first two months of the current fiscal year increased 2.80% to 8.521 million tons from 8.289 million tons in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.
Domestic despatches showed a stronger performance, rising 8.04% to 7.058 million tons from 6.533 million tons. Export volumes, however, declined 16.69%, falling to 1.464 million tons from 1.757 million tons during the same period last year.
North-based mills supplied 5.784 million tons to the domestic market during July-August 2026, up 7.98% from 5.356 million tons in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year. However, the mills made no exports during the period, compared with 440,614 tons exported in July-August 2025.
As a result, total despatches by North-based manufacturers edged down 0.22% to 5.784 million tons from 5.797 million tons a year earlier.
South-based mills recorded domestic despatches of 1.274 million tons during the first two months of the fiscal year, an 8.28% increase over 1.177 million tons in the corresponding period last year. Their exports also rose 11.21% to 1.463 million tons from 1.316 million tons.
Overall, South-based manufacturers increased their total despatches by 9.83%, reaching 2.738 million tons compared with 2.493 million tons during July-August of the previous fiscal year.
An APCMA spokesman expressed serious concern over the situation in northern parts of the country following heavy rains. He said the floods had severely affected agriculture and housing, stressing the need for government assistance to support affected communities and help them cope with the crisis.
