KARACHI – Bulls have regained control of the Pakistan Stock Exchange on last trading day of the business week, Friday, ending a long losing streak.

The KSE-100 index gained 3,330.94 points during intraday trading to reach 184,787.27 points compared to previous close of 181,456.33 points.

Experts have attributed the strong buying rally to rising investor confidence after the foreign exchange reserves of Pakistan recorded an increase.

As of January 9, 2026, Pakistan’s total liquid foreign reserves rose to $21,248.4 million, with the reserves held by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) reaching $16,071.8 million.

According to the SBP’s weekly report on Thursday, the central bank’s foreign exchange reserves increased by $16 million during the week ending January 9, 2026, bringing the total to $16,071.8 million.

In addition, the reserves held by commercial banks also saw an increase, rising by $40 million to reach $5,176.6 million for the same period.

For comparison, Pakistan’s total liquid foreign reserves stood at $21,192.4 million the previous week (ending January 2, 2026), with the SBP holding $16,055.7 million and commercial banks holding $5,136.7 million.
