LEEDS – Pakistan’s team management has begun finalising its initial strategy for the first Test against England, with the green pitch and expected rain in Leeds influencing its plans.
Team sources said the management is considering playing seven specialist batters and four specialist fast bowlers in the opening Test.
The inclusion of spinners Sajid Khan and Ali Usman is currently unlikely due to the grass-covered surface and the forecast for rain in Leeds.
Management is optimistic about the availability of Babar Azam and Shan Masood, with a final decision expected after Tuesday’s practice session.
Following the opening training session, Pakistan’s batters and bowlers held separate meetings.
The bowlers were shown video footage of England’s batters, while Pakistan’s batters analysed England’s bowling attack as part of their preparations for the Test.
