LAHORE – The Punjab government has completed the delimitation process for the upcoming local government elections, with the record of delimitations across the province sent to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
A key feature of the new delimitation is the increase in the number of union councils in Lahore, where 433 union councils have now been established, compared with 274 in 2015.
The delimitation exercise began on April 20, 2026. During the process, citizens submitted more than 150 objections.
Breakdown of Lahore Union Councils
Shalimar Town has the highest number of union councils in Lahore with 72, followed by Model Town with 77. City Town has 69, while Ravi Town has 52.
The remaining union councils have been distributed among other towns, with 25 in Wagah Town, 37 in Allama Iqbal Town, 32 in Raiwind, 40 in Nishtar Town and 29 in Saddar.
The increase from 274 union councils in 2015 to 433 under the latest delimitation marks a significant expansion in Lahore’s local government structure.
With the delimitation record now submitted to the ECP, Punjab has completed an important stage in the process leading toward local government elections.
