ISLAMABAD – The Pakistani government has expressed serious concern over a video shared by a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) affiliated social media account in the UK, which allegedly contains violent threats against army chief.
The video, which was posted on December 23, 2025, from a PTI UK official X (formerly Twitter) account, shows a few protesters in the UK threatening to kill Pakistan’s Field Marshal Asim Munir using a bomb. A woman in the video used highly inflammatory language, leading to fears of potential violations of international and UK anti-terrorism laws.
Experts have stated that such statements cannot be classified as free speech or political opposition but are clearly an incitement to violence and terrorism.
The video was widely shared by PTI-affiliated accounts and supporters, further escalating the situation. Under UK’s Counter-Terrorism Act 2006, making such threatening statements is considered a serious criminal offense.
According to international law, the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1373 obligates all states to prevent the incitement and support of terrorism. Legal experts are linking this incident to those international responsibilities.
Reports said that Pakistan has formally raised its concerns with the UK government in a letter, urging the identification, investigation, and legal action against the individuals involved in the video.
This incident is being seen as a test for the UK’s commitment to enforcing international counter-terrorism laws and maintaining responsible state behavior.
