LAHORE – Pakistan Railways received more than 30,000 applications for the recruitment of Assistant Station Masters and Sub-Engineers, the sources familiar with the development said on Monday.
The official sources said that a total of 30,247 applications have been submitted for just 550 jobs. Of these, 13,314 are for the post of Assistant Station Master while 16,933 applications have been received for various Sub-Engineer positions.
The recruitment process was initiated following a public advertisement issued last year.
The written examination for the shortlisted candidates is scheduled to take place in July. The test will be conducted in collaboration with a private university, and candidates have been informed accordingly.
The vacant posts include positions in the mechanical, signals, civil, electrical, and design departments — many of which had remained unfilled for several years.
Officials say the recruitment drive aims to address longstanding staff shortages and improve operational efficiency across the Pakistan Railways network.
