Pakistan beat Scotland by six wickets in the ICC Men’s U19 Cricket World Cup match in Harare on Monday.
Chasing a meagre 188-run target to bag first win in the mega event, Green shirts crossed the finish line with six wickets and 41 balls to spare.
Player of the match Usman Khan was the top scorer for the Green shirts, who made 75 off 85 balls with the help of five fours and two maximums. Ahmed Hussain contributed 47 off 92 balls, hitting three boundaries.
Sameer Minhas made 28 off 30 balls, and skipper Farhan Yousaf an unbeaten 18 off just 11 balls, while Ali Hassan Baloch contributed 15 off 33 balls. Ollie Jones and Manu Saraswat took two wickets apiece.
After being put into bat by Pakistan skipper Farhan Yousaf, Scotland kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were bundled out for 187 on the first ball of the penultimate over.
Skipper Thomas Knight was the highest scorer with a patient 37 off 72 balls, hitting three boundaries. Finlay Jones contributed 33 off 56 balls, Ollie Jones 30 off 35 balls, Manu Saraswat 25 off 36 balls, and Rory Grant 21 off 45 balls, while Finlay made 12 off 16 balls.
Ali Raza was the main destroyer who bagged four wickets in his quota of 10 overs, giving away only 37 runs. Momin Qamar took three wickets and Abdul Subhan two, while Mohammad Sayyam got one wicket.
