ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s visa policy is undergoing overhaul as the government reviews its arrangements with countries around the world. A new report from the Ministry of Interior puts 69 countries on the business visa list while also outlining changes to tourist and grant visa categories.
Ministry of Interior has prepared a special report outlining Pakistan’s visa arrangements across multiple categories, revealing a wide-ranging list of countries covered under business, tourist and grant visas, as well as countries with which Pakistan has terminated visa agreements.
According to the report, 69 countries have been included in Pakistan’s business visa category, covering several major economies and key international markets.
The business visa list includes Australia, Belgium, Brazil, China, France, Germany and Japan, while Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Malta, Qatar, Sweden, the United Kingdom, the United States and Uzbekistan are also among the countries on the list.
Tourist Visa Category
The report states that 24 countries have been placed in the tourist visa category. Among the countries specifically listed are Canada, France, Malaysia, Jersey, Italy, China and Denmark.
The ministry has also outlined responsibility arrangements for travelers visiting countries covered under the tourist visa category. According to the report, the designated tourist operator will be responsible for travelers visiting these countries.
Grant Visa List
The special report identifies 15 countries under the grant visa category. The countries specifically mentioned include Bangladesh, India, Israel, Nigeria, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen. The inclusion of these countries in the grant visa category represents another significant component of Pakistan’s revised visa framework.
36 Visa Agreements Terminated
One of the most significant disclosures in the report is that Pakistan has terminated visa agreements with 36 countries.
According to the report, the agreements include arrangements concerning different types of passports. Nine countries are covered under diplomatic passport agreements, while 19 countries are covered under official passport arrangements. In addition, eight countries are included under national passport-related visa termination agreements.
Dual Citizenship
The report also contains a list of 16 countries that grant dual citizenship, providing another important category within the ministry’s assessment of international visa and citizenship arrangements.
The latest report therefore presents a broad picture of Pakistan’s visa framework, covering 69 countries under the business visa category, 24 under the tourist visa category, 15 under the grant visa category, 16 countries that grant dual citizenship, and 36 countries with which Pakistan has terminated visa agreements.
