ABU DHABI – The Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi has announced that it will remain closed on Friday, June 27, 2025, in observance of the public holiday marking the beginning of the New Hijri Year.
This notification is particularly important for the Pakistani community residing in the United Arab Emirates, who are advised to plan their visits to the embassy accordingly.
Normal operations at the embassy will resume on Monday, June 30, 2025, as there are two weekly offs on Saturday and Sunday (June 28 and 29).
The embassy has urged citizens to take note of the closure to avoid any inconvenience during this period.
It is recalled that the UAE has announced a public holiday for all public and private employees on June 27 on account of the start of the new Islamic year.
The holiday coincided with weekly offs, making it a three-day long weekend for the several private employees and all public sector job holders.
Muharram Moon Sighted
A day earlier, Muharram crescent moon was sighted in Saudi Arabia and the UAE, and New Islamic Year starts on June 26 Thursday.
Saudi Arabia officially announced that Muharram will start from tomorrow after sighting of the crescent moon that signals the start of first Islamic month.
The Islamic, or Hijri, New Year marks historic migration of the Prophet Muhammad SAW from Mecca to Medina in 622 AD, and journey, which established the foundations of the first Muslim community, marks the beginning of the Islamic calendar.
