ISLAMABAD – In a historic moment for Pakistan, the national team secured its first-ever international futsal victory by defeating Bhutan in the ongoing SAFF Futsal Championship in Thailand.
The match, played at Bangkok Indoor Stadium, saw Pakistan stage a remarkable comeback after trailing 0-2.
Bhutan took an early lead with two goals from Dawa Shering in the initial minutes. However, Pakistan fought back strongly.
In the 28th minute, Hassan Zafar scored to reduce the deficit, and four minutes later, Asif Ahmed Chaudhry equalized for Pakistan.
The momentum continued, and in the 34th and 35th minutes, Adnan Ashfaq scored two crucial goals, giving Pakistan a 2-4 lead and securing the victory.
This victory marks Pakistan’s first success in international futsal. In their opening match of the event, Pakistan had suffered a heavy 1-7 loss to the Maldives.
In a parallel achievement, the Pakistan Women’s Futsal Team also emerged victorious the previous day, defeating Sri Lanka. Pakistan’s next match in the men’s event is scheduled for January 18, where they will face Sri Lanka.
