ISLAMABAD – President Asif Ali Zardari approved the summary submitted by the federal seeking a major increase in the salaries and benefits of Supreme Court judges, bringing their pay and allowances in line with the of judges of the Federal Constitutional Court.
The new salaries and allowances will take effect from December 10, 2025. The judges will also receive financial benefits for the previous period, including payment of arrears resulting from the increase.
Following the approval, the notification will be known as the Supreme Court Judges’ Salary Order 2026.
Under the revised package, the monthly basic salary of the Chief Justice of Pakistan has been fixed at Rs1.55 million, while the basic monthly salary of other Supreme Court judges has been set at Rs1.5 million.
The basic salary of the top court judges has been increased from Rs1.1 million to Rs1.5 million, representing an increase of approximately Rs400,000 per month.
The judicial allowance has also been substantially increased. It has been raised from Rs1,161,163 to Rs1.5 million per month, an increase of around Rs338,837.
The revised package also introduces changes to the pension provisions for Supreme Court judges. The age limit mentioned in one pension-related provision has been increased from 70 to 75 years, while another age limit has been raised from 85 to 90 years.
In addition, Supreme Court judges will receive a monthly medical allowance of Rs150,000 under the new package.
