ISLAMABAD – The government has approved civil awards for 78 individuals in recognition of their sacrifices and acts of courage and bravery.
The decision was taken during a special meeting of the Gallantry Awards Committee chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, Federal Interior Secretary and other relevant officials attended the meeting.
The committee approved civil honours for martyrs and individuals who demonstrated exceptional courage and bravery.
Speaking at the meeting, Mohsin Naqvi said honouring those who sacrificed their lives for the country and those who displayed bravery was a national responsibility.
He said Pakistan remained indebted to the martyrs and Ghazis for their lasting sacrifices, adding that their courage and sacrifices were a valuable national asset.
The approval of the civil awards comes ahead of the Independence Day 2026 when the medals are awarded to the nominated individuals.
The federal government has announced public holiday on 14 August on account of the Independence Day.
