ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday landed in Dushanbe, capital of Tajikistan, for two-day official visit, where he was received Tajik Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda with a warm welcome.

This visit follows conclusion of Prime Minister’s successful three-day trip to Azerbaijan. At Lachin International Airport, Prime Minister Shehbaz was seen off by Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Qasim Mohiuddin, and other diplomatic officials.
During his stay in Dushanbe, PM is slated to participate in the International Conference on Glacier Prevention, an important event aimed at addressing climate change and environmental challenges in the region.
Before departing from Azerbaijan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif spoke to the media, revealing that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has reaffirmed a commitment to invest $2 billion in Pakistan. The Prime Minister expressed Pakistan’s readiness to welcome this significant investment, emphasizing the potential for mutual economic benefit.
He termed Azerbaijan as “brotherly nation,” revealing plans to strengthen cooperation between the two countries across various sectors, including commerce, defense, education, and healthcare.
The visit to Tajikistan marks another step in Pakistan’s broader diplomatic outreach and regional engagement strategy, with climate and economic cooperation high on the agenda.
