PAF ex-Air Marshal Jawad Saeed imprisoned for leaking sensitive info to brother in US

Paf Ex Air Marshal Jawad Saeed Imprisoned For Leaking Sensitive Info To Brother In Us

ISLAMABAD – Case of retired Air Marshal Jawad Saeed is reminder that discipline in Pakistan Air Force remains equal for all, no matter the rank or years of service. According to the Air Force, Saeed’s court-martial and imprisonment was due to sharing sensitive information with his brother, who lives in the US.

The legal and political storm surrounding retired Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Air Marshal Jawad Saeed intensified, as his wife continues a fierce judicial battle for details of the court-martial that led to his imprisonment. The case was lodged due to allegations of espionage, administrative overreach, and secrecy.

British media quoting PAF said Jawad Saeed faced field general court-martial for allegedly sharing highly sensitive information with his brother in US. The information was of warplanes stationed at Mianwali Airbase, describing the matter as “extremely sensitive.”

Air Marshal’s wife howeer claims another reason behind her husband’s detention, alleging that Jawad Saeed wrote a white paper exposing the current Air Chief’s alleged overreach of power, which triggered the court-martial. While this document remains unpublished, Shazia Jawad asserts it was confiscated directly from her husband’s laptop.

PAF categorically denies any link between the white paper and the court-martial, linking the proceedings solely to the sharing of sensitive information abroad. The legal battle has spanned multiple high courts. Initially, Shazia Jawad approached the Islamabad High Court regarding her husband’s alleged unlawful detention.

PAF informed the court that Jawad Saeed had been sentenced to 14 years in prison following a court-martial from 24–27 January 2024, later reduced by 10 years on appeal. Jawad Saeed reportedly submitted a mercy petition to the Air Chief, which remains undecided.

In October 2025, the Lahore High Court ordered the federal government to resolve her pending requests within a month. Yet, months later, no action has been taken, prompting Shazia Jawad to continue her fight for transparency and justice.

Jawad Saeed’s detention has been anything but ordinary. According to the PAF’s Judge Advocate General, he was not transferred to a regular prison due to the sensitive nature of the case. Instead, he was held in a PAF mess designated as a “sub-jail” with VIP facilities costing 200,000–300,000 daily. His pension has been suspended, though his daughter’s medical expenses are reportedly being covered by the state.
