LAHORE – Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Ahmad Khan on Tuesday met a 20-member international business delegation from the United States, Malaysia, Qatar, Norway, South Korea and Canada at the Assembly Chamber.
The meeting was attended by Punjab Law Minister Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan, Chairman Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Syed Ali Haider Gilani, Chairman PEMRA Malik Ahmed Saeed Khan and other senior officials.
The delegation comprised industrialists and investors from various countries.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on strengthening global trade relations, promoting investment and enhancing business-to-business (B2B) linkages through effective coordination.
Speaking on the occasion, Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan emphasised the need to expand business partnerships and explore new investment opportunities.
He said Punjab was providing a business-friendly environment for global investors and was committed to facilitating foreign investment.
The speaker briefed the delegation on business challenges, ongoing reforms and measures aimed at accelerating trade and investment.
He stressed that Pakistan was ready to take its international trade relations to new heights and underlined the importance of promptly addressing issues faced by the global business community.
He also highlighted the role of the Pakistani-origin international business community as a bridge between countries, contributing to stronger economic ties.
Several members of the Punjab Assembly, including Zulfiqar Ali Shah, Ahmed Iqbal Chaudhry, Khurram Khan Virk, Nausheen Adnan, Asma Ehtesham-ul-Haq, Chaudhry Iftikhar Hussain Chhachhar, Rana Muhammad Arshad, Muhammad Ahmed Khan Leghari, Mohsin and Shah Nawaz Ranjha, were also present.
Principal Secretary Imad Hussain Bhalli, Malik Ali Ahmed Khan, DG IR Mahira Rafiq and Director Media Punjab Assembly Rao Majid Ali attended the meeting as well.
