LAHORE – A delegation of Oxford University Press (OUP) Pakistan met Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and appreciated the provincial government’s initiatives to improve the quality of education.
The delegation particularly praised the Nawaz Sharif School of Eminence project, describing its educational standards as highly impressive. It also offered cooperation in promoting education and strengthening teaching standards in Punjab.
Maryam Nawaz welcomed OUP’s proposal to collaborate with the Punjab School Education Department and decided to launch a pilot project using OUP curriculum at the Nawaz Sharif School of Eminence.
Under the proposed partnership, OUP will provide support in digital training programmes for teachers, capacity building, teaching guides and other educational initiatives.
The delegation commended the high standards being maintained at the Nawaz Sharif School of Eminence and expressed willingness to contribute to further improving the quality of education.
Speaking during the meeting, Maryam Nawaz said her government wanted to serve people not only in Punjab but also in Sindh and other provinces.
“I also feel the difficulties faced by the people of Karachi and Sindh,” she said.
The chief minister said the Punjab government’s education reforms had helped restore public confidence in state-run schools.
“By the grace of Allah, people are now striving to secure admission to government schools,” Maryam Nawaz said.
She added that the participation of thousands of students in the entrance test for admission to the Nawaz Sharif School of Eminence reflected growing public confidence in the government’s efforts to improve the standard of public education.
