OIC SG expresses condolences on death of Iranian President

Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Mr. Hissein BrahimTaha, offered heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the Government and people of Iran over the death of Ebrahim Raisi, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Foreign Minister Mr. Hossein Amir Abdollahian and their accompanying delegation during the crash of the helicopter in which they were traveling yesterday, Sunday 19 May 2024. He prayed to Allah to shower them with mercy and forgiveness, to admit them to paradise, and to grant their relatives the fortitude to bear the loss.

Meanwhile, the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) vehemently denounces the murderous attack that occurred on Friday, 17 May 2024, in Bamyan province, Afghanistan.

The deadly shootout resulted in the deaths of foreign tourists and Afghan nationals, with several others reportedly gravely injured.

The General Secretariat expresses its dismay over this shocking attack, whose perpetrators should be promptly brought to justice and due investigation should be conducted to determine the masterminds and the real motivations behind such a senseless attack.

The General Secretariat renews its call on the de facto authorities in Kabul to intensify their efforts to neutralize any terrorist threat on Afghan soil. The General Secretariat extends its sincere wishes for a prompt recovery to those injured in the attack.—PR
