In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) leader Advocate Davinder Singh Behl has said that Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognized disputed territory which India has illegally occupied on the basis of its military force.

Advocate Devinder Singh Behl in a statement issued in Jammu said the Kashmiri people have rendered unprecedented sacrifices for their birthright to self-determination since 1947, in which the largest sacrifices were made in November 1947.

He said even today no day passes in Kashmir in which a youth, an old man, a child or a woman is not martyred by the Indian troops or subjected to maltreatment. He said unless the Kashmir dispute is resolved according to the resolutions of the United Nations and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, sustainable peace cannot be established in South Asia.

Advocate Behl welcomed the statement of China wherein Beijing stressed that the Kashmir dispute should be resolved in accordance with the UN resolutions and this is also the wish of the Kashmiri people.

He said since the first day, Pakistan has been advocating settlement of the Kashmir dispute according to World Body’s resolutions, but due to India’s stubbornness, the dispute still remains unresolved.

Advocate Devinder Singh appealed to the international community and the UN Secretary General to play their role in resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the Kashmiris’ aspirations to ensure durable peace in South Asia.—KMS
