ISLAMABAD – Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir said Pakistan’s Armed Forces will not allow hostile intelligence agencies or their proxy networks to destabilize the country, as the top general reaffirmed the military’s resolve to eliminate cross-border terrorism.

In an address at National Defence University (NDU), Islamabad, COAS said Pakistani Forces are adapting their warfighting doctrine to meet the demands of an evolving security landscape, while issuing a stern warning that state-sponsored attempts to destabilize Pakistan through proxy networks will be defeated.

Addressing graduating officers of the National Security and War Course at the National Defence University (NDU), Islamabad, the Field Marshal said the nature of warfare is undergoing rapid transformation, making strategic clarity, innovation, and institutional professionalism more critical than ever. He described premier institutions such as NDU as vital in preparing future military and civilian leaders to confront hybrid, conventional, and sub-conventional threats with confidence and foresight.

Highlighting the Armed Forces’ evolving approach, the Field Marshal said Pakistan is recalibrating its operational employment and force development strategies to remain prepared for the changing character of modern conflict.

In one of the strongest messages of his address, he stated that the Armed Forces are fully aware of efforts by hostile intelligence agencies to undermine Pakistan through proxy elements and covert networks. He asserted that such attempts to disrupt the country’s internal security and economic progress would fail, adding that these hostile designs would not be allowed to succeed.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s counterterrorism resolve, the Field Marshal said terrorism originating from across the borders would be dealt with using the full strength of the state. He added that, with the backing of the nation, the Armed Forces would continue operations to dismantle terrorist sanctuaries, proxy infrastructure, and the facilitators supporting such groups.

Field Marshal also stressed that military victories cannot be secured through media narratives or political slogans, but are achieved through faith, unity, discipline, and professional excellence.

Concluding his address, he expressed confidence in the operational readiness, combat experience, and high morale of Pakistan’s battle-hardened Armed Forces. He urged the graduating officers to uphold the values of integrity, selfless service, and unwavering commitment as they assume future leadership responsibilities.

Earlier, upon his arrival at the National Defence University, the Field Marshal was received by the President of NDU.
