Bad News For Pakistanis As Sngpl Pushes For Big Gas Tariff Raise

ISLAMABAD – The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has dismissed reports suggesting an eight percent reduction in gas prices, clarifying that instead, a 7.14 percent increase has been approved.

The latest hike has been approved for the fiscal year 2025-26, putting an additional burden on masses.

SNGPL Gas Price Per MMBTU

The authority has confirmed that gas price has been fixed at Rs1,850 per mmbtu for the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL)

SSGC New Gas Price

OGRA has set the gas price at Rs1,777.2 per mmbtu for Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) for the FY2025-26.

Latest Gas Timings for Winters in Pakistan

A day earlier, Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik charied a high-level meeting on winter gas load management in the country.

Malik said that, on the special directives of the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, every possible step be taken to ensure adequate gas supply to the public during the winter season.

The Managing Directors of SNGPL and SSGC briefed the meeting on the current availability of gas across the country.

The minister stated that necessary instructions have been issued to both Sui companies to facilitate the public. RLNG connections rollout was also reviewed. He added that this year’s domestic gas supply situation was significantly better compared to last year.

The SNGPL MD said gas is being provided continuously from 5:00 am to 10:00 pm, in addition to regular supply during meal times these days, ensuring greater convenience for households.

The minister emphasized that the improvement in gas supply has been made with public comfort as a priority.
