No more biometrics or life certificates as Pakistan announces new pension rules

New Rule Salary And Pension Payment Date Announced By Government

ISLAMABAD – The Ministry of Finance has issued new rules for pensioners as it has introduced a fully digital payment and verification system to facilitate retired government officials.

Under the new rules, pension payments will be made exclusively through the digital pension system and transferred directly into the bank account of the pensioners.

Digital Verification Every Six Months

The ministry said pensioners will be required to complete digital verification through NADRA every six months.

The verification can be completed through the NADRA Pak Identity app or authorized NADRA centres.

The previous paper-based method of pension verification has been discontinued under the new system. The existing schedule requiring verification in March and September has also been abolished.

No More Biometrics or Life Certificates

Banks will no longer require pensioners to provide biometric verification or life certificates under the new rules.

Pension accounts will also not be declared dormant or closed due to the new verification process. Once the required verification is completed, pension payments will continue to be transferred to the pensioner’s account.

Pension Payments to Be Suspended After Six Months

The Ministry of Finance said that pension transfers will be stopped if a pensioner fails to complete the required digital verification for six months.
