No Job Offer Letter Required Know About Germany Opportunity Card For Pakistanis

LAHORE – Germany has introduced a new opportunity for skilled individuals from Pakistan through the Opportunity Card scheme, which offers a pathway to travel to the European country for security gainful employment or self-employment in the country without an advanced work visa.

The Opportunity Card is designed for individuals who wish to seek job opportunities in Germany but do not have a formal job offer in hand at the time of application.

The program is part of Germany’s initiative to address skills shortages and attract talented professionals from across the globe.

How Does the Opportunity Card Work?

The Opportunity Card allows Pakistani nationals to enter Germany for up to one year to search for work.

During this time, holders can seek full-time or part-time employment, and they are also permitted to engage in secondary employment for up to 20 hours per week.

Additionally, job seekers can participate in job trials for up to two weeks with potential employers as part of their search.

To apply for the Germany Opportunity Card, candidates must meet certain eligibility criteria. Unlike traditional work visas, a formal job offer is not required. Instead, applicants must demonstrate that they have the necessary qualifications and language skills.

Where to Apply for Germany Opportunity Card

The application can be made online through the Consular Services Portal of the Federal Foreign Office [https://digital.diplo.de/chancenkarte].

Points System for Eligibility

The Opportunity Card operates on a points-based system, and applicants must score a minimum of six points to be eligible. Points are awarded for the following criteria:

1. Equivalence of Qualification: If your qualifications obtained in Pakistan are partially equivalent to German standards, you can score four points. This also applies to regulated professions requiring compensatory measures.

2. Qualification in a Shortage Occupation: If you hold qualifications in a high-demand occupation, you receive an additional point. The list of shortage occupations can be found on the German government’s official website.

3. Professional Experience: Points are awarded based on professional experience. Two points are granted for at least two years of experience within the past five years, and three points for at least five years of experience within the last seven years.

4. Language Skills: German language proficiency above A1 level will earn you points. B1 level gives two points, and B2 or above grants three points. If you have C1-level English skills or are a native speaker, you can also earn additional points.

5. Age and Previous Stays in Germany: Younger applicants (under 35) will receive two points, and those with previous stays in Germany can earn one point.

Financial Requirements for Opportunity Card

Applicants must also prove their ability to cover living expenses during their stay in Germany. This can be done by providing evidence of a blocked bank account with at least €1,091 per month or through a declaration of commitment.
