ISLAMABAD – The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) on Saturday informed the Islamabad High Court (IHC) that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has not been cooperating with investigators in ongoing inquiries related to posts made from his X (formerly Twitter) account.
The NCCIA submitted its report in response to a petition seeking the suspension of Imran Khan’s X account. The court was apprised of the progress made in the investigation and the steps taken by the agency to determine who operates the account.
The NCCIA has initiated two separate inquiries over tweets posted from the PTI founder’s account. Both inquiries are currently pending and were registered with the agency on May 19 and September 13, 2024.
The agency stated that its investigation team visited Adiala Jail on several occasions to question Imran Khan regarding the management of his social media accounts. However, it was unable to establish who is operating the X account.
The report maintained that Imran Khan declined to cooperate with investigators and did not disclose who was using or managing his social media platforms.
Despite repeated queries by the investigation team, the NCCIA said, the lack of cooperation has hindered progress and the probe remains ongoing.
The Islamabad High Court is expected to take up the matter for further proceedings at a later date.
