In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, in yet another display of communal harmony, Muslims performed last rites of a Kashmiri Pandit, who passed away in Watalbagh area of Ganderbal dis-trict.

A 72-year-old pandit, Mohan Krishna Matoo, breathed his last at Soura Institute of Medical Sci-ences in Srinagar, plunging the whole locality in mourning.

Soon after the news of Matoo’s death spread, local Muslims made special arrangements in per-forming his last rites. They also ferried firewood to help the family to cremate the deceased. “It is our duty to help neighbours irrespective of their religion,” Shahbaz, a local resident, said.—KMS
