Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Federal Minister for Ports & Shipping (Maritime Affairs) QaiserShaikh reached an agreement to enhance the functionality of the Korangi Fish Harbour and establish the KetiBunder Sea Port for the export of Thar coal and other commodities. Discussions also included resolving land issues between the Sindh government and Karachi Port Trust (KPT) to attract foreign investment. Shah directed officials to resolve these issues amicably, emphasizing the importance of cooperation.

Minister Shaikh highlighted the need for an additional port due to the congestion at Karachi Port, suggesting KetiBunder as a viable option, previously included in CPEC projects.

Shah expressed interest in reviving the KetiBunder project, citing the vast coal reserves in Thar and ongoing road network developments to facilitate transportation. Recognizing the overcrowding at Karachi Fish Harbour, Shah outlined plans to fully operationalize Korangi Fish Harbour, providing facilities and an Auction Hall for fishermen.

He urged the federal minister to initiate projects for fishermen’s welfare, which Shaikh pledged to consider. Both officials emphasized collaboration for industrial development in Karachi, Thatta, and Hyderabad, aiming to attract investment and spur economic growth.
