The Permanent Representative of Pakistan Mission to the United Nations Munir Akram has said the objective of the world body was to prevent war and use of force against the independent state.
He was speaking at an open video conference Arria-formula meeting on “Upholding the collective security system of the UN Charter: the use of force in international law, non-state actors and legitimate self-defence,” said a press statement issued on Thursday.
Munir Akram said that Pakistan has been victim of attacks by the terrorists being harboured by the neighbouring state. He said that struggle to get internationally acknowledged right to self-determination cannot be dubbed as terrorism.
Munir Akram said Kashmiris in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir have launched a struggle for their inalienable right to self-determination.
Meanwhile, speaking during a plenary meeting of the UN General Assembly Munir Akram asked the world body to take measures to end the ongoing rights abuses in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
The Pakistani envoy said that human rights are under threat everywhere and we continue to see egregious and systematic human rights violations. Munir Akram also expressed concern over global resurgence in intolerance, discrimination, racism, and violence against minorities and vulnerable groups, including women and children.—TLTP
