LAHORE – Class 9 Students of BISE Lahore and other board got their results but the numbers delivered shock. BISE Lahore’s Class 9 results show that more than half of the students failed to clear the 2026 exams, with the overall pass rate falling to 46.51%.
The overall pass percentage remained at just 46.51%, meaning 53.49% of candidates were unsuccessful. Lahore Board Chairman Professor Badr-ul-Salam and Controller of Examinations Tausif-ur-Rehman formally announced the results. According to the board’s statistics, 287,597 candidates registered for the examinations, while 280,676 actually appeared. Of these, only 130,543 students managed to pass.
Female students emerged as the clear performers in the results, recording a pass rate far higher than their male counterparts. Out of 150,882 female candidates who appeared, 82,410 passed, giving girls an impressive 54.62% success rate.
The boys’ results were significantly weaker. Of 129,794 male candidates, only 48,133 passed, resulting in a pass percentage of 37.08%. The figures show a striking 17.54-percentage-point gap between the performance of female and male students. The results also exposed a major difference between regular and private candidates.
Among 180,264 regular students, 96,566 passed, translating into a 53.57% pass rate. Private candidates faced a much tougher outcome. Of the 100,412 students who appeared privately, only 33,977 succeeded, leaving their pass percentage at just 33.84%.
Government institutions recorded a pass rate of only 39.98%. Of the 101,079 regular candidates appearing from government institutes, 40,409 passed. Private institutions, meanwhile, delivered a dramatically stronger performance. From 79,185 candidates, as many as 56,157 passed, pushing their success rate to 70.92%.
The difference between the two sectors stands at nearly 31 percentage points, highlighting a sharp performance divide. 2026 examination also marks a major shift in the board’s assessment policy. The minimum passing requirement has been raised from 33% to 40%. Students must now secure at least 220 marks out of 550 to be declared successful.
The traditional word “Fail” has been removed from result cards. Students who do not achieve the required standard will instead receive the status “Unsatisfactory.”
With 150,133 candidates unable to clear the examination among those who appeared, the results have delivered a stark message about the performance of Class 9 students under the revised assessment framework. The overall pass rate of 46.51% means that the unsuccessful candidates substantially outnumbered those who passed, making the 2026 BISE Lahore Class 9 result one of the most closely scrutinised outcomes of the year.
