Mohammad Abbas joins Pakistan’s Lord’s Legends after 5-Wicket Haul

Mohammad Abbas produced a spell to remember at Lords. With England collapsing for 208, Pakistan pacer grabbed five wickets to etch his name onto the iconic Honours Board and join an elite list of Pakistani bowling greats.

Abbas delivered career-defining spell at Lord’s, etching his name into the venue’s prestigious Honours Board after ripping through England’s batting lineup with a five-wicket haul. He produced the decisive breakthrough on the fourth day of the second Test, finishing with 5-57 from 22 overs as England were bowled out for 208 in 54.2 overs.

The collapse left Pakistan with a daunting 389-run target as the visitors chase victory in the second Test of the three-match series.

Abbas completed his five-wicket burst by removing Ollie Robinson, who could manage only eight runs from 15 balls, including one boundary.

Earlier, England’s resistance suffered another blow when Dan Lawrence departed after scoring a fighting 54 off 70 deliveries. His innings featured seven fours and two sixes.

With England edging towards the 200-run mark, Josh Tongue attempted to keep the innings alive. Pakistan, however, gifted the hosts an extra boundary following a misfield by wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan.

England’s innings eventually came to an end when Tongue was run out by Babar Azam after making 12 runs.

While Abbas spearheaded the attack, Mohammad Ali and Khurram Shahzad also played their part, claiming two wickets each to help Pakistan wrap up England’s innings.

The performance marked the eighth five-wicket haul of Abbas’ Test career, but went beyond the match itself. His figures of 5-57 earned him a coveted place on the Lord’s Honours Board, putting him in the company of an elite group of Pakistani bowlers who have previously achieved the feat at the historic London venue.

The pacer is now the latest Pakistani name to join a list that includes Khan Mohammad, Fazal Mahmood, Asif Masood, Mudassar Nazar, Mohammad Asif, Mohammad Amir and Yasir Shah.
