KARACHI – Investigators probing the murder of young businessman Mir Raza have conducted a late-night visit to the crime scene and fired a shot as part of an effort to reconstruct the circumstances surrounding his death.
No major breakthrough has been reported in the case so far, according to investigative sources.
A meeting of the investigation committee was held at the Ferozabad police station late at night. After the meeting, the committee visited the crime scene between 3am and 4am, the time investigators believe Mir Raza went missing on July 28.
During the visit, investigators fired a shot from the location to determine how far the sound could travel and whether it could have been heard in nearby residential areas.
The team also questioned people present at nearby locations, including a mosque and a nursery, as well as residents and others in the surrounding area.
According to investigative sources, none of the people questioned reported hearing a gunshot during the test.
Investigators are continuing to determine whether a shooting actually took place at the same location on July 28.
The investigation has also focused on forensic evidence recovered from Mir Raza’s body. Sources said traces of gunpowder were found on both of his palms.
Investigators are examining whether the presence of gunpowder indicates that Mir Raza himself had fired a weapon.
The local authorities are analysing the forensic findings alongside other evidence to establish what happened in the hours before his death.
The investigation committee is expected to submit further findings as the probe progresses. Police and other investigative agencies are also examining available evidence to determine the circumstances surrounding Mir Raza’s death and identify those responsible.
