Ministry Clears Air on Viral Khawaja Asif Video Comparing Pakistan, India

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif Accuses Imran Khan Of Pia Downfall

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting dismissed a video circulating on social media that falsely appeared to show Defence Minister Khawaja Asif comparing Pakistan’s development with that of India.

In a post on X on Monday, the ministry clarified that Asif had never made the remarks attributed to him.

The ministry shared the video on its official X account to warn users that it had been manipulated. The roughly one-minute footage appeared to show the defence minister addressing a press conference broadcast by a major news network.

In the video clip, the speaker seemingly asked Pakistanis to evaluate the country’s condition while drawing a comparison between Pakistan and India’s progress since independence.

The video gained significant traction on social media and was subsequently reported by some Indian media organisations, including News18, which published a story based on the alleged comments.

The Ministry said the video was fake and that its audio had been generated using artificial intelligence.
“Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has not given any such statement,” the ministry said while urging the public to verify information through official sources before sharing it online.
