RAWALPINDI — A Metro Bus traveling along Murree Road near Faizabad, close to the Survey of Pakistan area in Rawalpindi, caught fire late Thursday night, causing panic among passengers as thick smoke filled the vehicle.
The fire reportedly started suddenly in bus engine. Within moments, smoke spread throughout the cabin, leading to chaos onboard. Several passengers, including women and children, reportedly became distressed and unwell due to the smoke.

As the bus doors allegedly failed to open in time, passengers broke the windows to escape, managing to get out before the situation worsened. Eyewitness clips recorded by passersby show smoke billowing from the bus while people can be seen evacuating in panic.
Fortunately, no fatalities were reported in the incident. Initial reports suggest that all passengers were safely evacuated, although some may have suffered minor discomfort due to smoke inhalation.
The incident occurred on busy stretch of the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro Bus route near Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metrobus at Faizabad Interchange, one of the busiest transport hubs in the twin cities.
Authorities have not yet released an official statement regarding the cause of the fire or confirmed the total number of passengers onboard at the time of the incident. Further investigation is expected to determine whether the fire was caused by a technical fault or mechanical failure.
