Mega project planned to save agriculture land: DC

District Disaster Management Authority Hafizabad dispatched summery to the Commissioner Gujrat for approval to construct stud at the bank of the River Chenab with the cost of Rs. 120 million to protect agriculture land and population from erosion.

This was stated by the Deputy Commissioner Hafizabad Toqeer Ilyas Cheema while talking to villagers during visit of the River Chenab, on Saturday. MPA and Chairman TEVTA Muhammad Mamoon Tarar was also accompanied by him.

DC said that a mega project was prepared to save agriculture land and population of Mehmoodpur and other villages from orison and this project would be completed with the estimate cost of Rs. 120 million.

He said the summery of this project would present before Chief Minister of the Punjab through Chief Secretary Punjab, Provincial Disaster Management Authority Punjab and Cabinet Committee for according final approval and after approval of the Chief Minister Punjab construction work would be started on this project.

MPA Muhammad Mamoon Tarar regretfully stated that the river has eroded a vast stretch of land over the course of years at village Mehmoodpur and protection of agriculture land and population of the river belt is my top priority and respbsbilty as elected representative of the area.
