Grow More Wheat Campaign 2022 is going on under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan, Vice Chancellor, University of Agriculture Faisalabad on the special advice of Minister for Agriculture, Syed Hussain Jahania Gardaizi and Mr. Ahmad Aziz Tarar, Secretary Agriculture, Govt. of Punjab.
In this context, a Mega Farmer Gathering was conducted in Sahiwal as a joint venture of University of Agriculture Faisalabad and Department of Agriculture Extension.
Worthy Commissioner Sahiwal Division was the Chief Guest of this event. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar Khan Dean Faculty of Agriculture, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad and Focal person Wheat Campaign 2022 graced the occasion and highlighted the vision, mission and objectives of the “Grow More Wheat Campaign”.
Dr. Faiz Ahmed Joyia told the participants about the role of genetically modified crops in crop productivity. Dr. Rana Muhammad Dildar Khan discussed the insect pest control in wheat crop. Mr. Rai Kashif Zulifqar comprehensively discussed the importance and technology of soil analysis and balance fertilizer application in wheat.
Dr. Usman Farid discussed on smog control and mechanized farming specifically related to wheat. Madam Maria Tahseen briefed the participants on the biological control of insect pests. Dr. Yaseen Naz discussed importance of wheat campaign with students’ perspective. Dr. Muhammad Aslam convened the whole event and motivated the farmers to grow more wheat.
Mr. Shahbaz Akhtar, Director Agriculture (Ext) Sahiwal Division, Sahiwal discussed the role of Agriculture Extension Department in this Campaign. He elaborated the field activities of students related to this campaign.
The Commissioner, Sahiwal Division, Sahiwal Mr. Javed Akhtar Mehmood, Additional Commissioner and other administrative officers of Sahiwal Division also graced the event. The Commissioner, Sahiwal Division, Sahiwal also motivated the farmers to enhance area and production of wheat by adopting modern production technologies. At the end lunch was served to all participants.
At the end Rana Maqsood Ahmed, Deputy Director Agriculture (Ext) District Sahiwal expressed vote of thanks to all Honorable guests and participants.
All the students of wheat Campaign, Agriculture Extension Field Staff and Farmers of District Sahiwal participated in this event.
