ISLAMABAD – Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal has revealed schedule of the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) with effect from next year of 2027, serving a major blow to private coaching centers across Pakistan.
The MDCAT is a prerequisite for the students seeking admission to both public and private medical and dental colleges in Pakistan. The nationwide exam is aimed at ensuring a uniform and transparent merit-based admission process.
The minister told media that starting 2027, the admission test will be conducted within six days of FSc results, removing the traditional months long preparation gap.
The long gap created an opening for coaching centers to attract students with promises of higher test scores. They often charged hefty fees to aspirants aiming for MBBS or BDS admissions.
If the decision is implemented, it will help students and parents to save their hard-earned money instead of paying in wake of fees to coaching centres.
Last year, the University of Health Sciences (UHS) released the results for the 2025 Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT), held on October 26, 2025, in Punjab.
A total of 47,772 candidates appeared for the examination. Out of these, 42,048 candidates achieved more than 50% marks, successfully passing the test.
Furthermore, 39,648 candidates scored above 55%, meeting the minimum requirement for MBBS admission in the province.
