LAHORE—The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed 54 illegal commercial buildings and premises that defaulted on commercialisation fees in LDA-controlled areas and various housing schemes on Monday.
LDA’s Town Planning Wing sealed 19 buildings in Gulshan-e-Ravi and Samanabad, 15 in New Garden Town, and 20 in Allama Iqbal Town during operations against illegal commercial use and nonpayment of commercialisation fees.
The sealed premises include MCB Bank, Pizzalo 21, Iqra School, Saeed Super Store, Ali Baba Fast Food, grocery stores, a beauty salon, food outlets, offices, and other businesses.
LDA Chief Town Planner I, Assad-uz-Zaman, supervised the operations carried out by the enforcement teams, assisted by the Police.
According to the LDA officials, several notices were served on the owners of these buildings before the operations were carried out.
LDA Director General Tahir Farooq has directed the continuation of indiscriminate operations against violations of bylaws, encroachments, illegal commercial buildings and non-payment of commercialisation fees in housing schemes and LDA-controlled areas.
