LAHORE—The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed 55 illegal commercial buildings and premises that defaulted on commercialisation fees in LDA-controlled areas and various housing schemes on Wednesday.
LDA’s Town Planning Wing sealed 16 buildings in Gulberg and Faisal Town, 11 in Shadman and Shah Jamal, and 28 in Allama Iqbal Town and Sabzazar Housing Scheme during operations against illegal commercial use and nonpayment of commercialisation fees.
The sealed premises include American Lyceum, Yousaf School System, AZ Café, a pharmacy, a private clinic, grocery stores, workshops, food outlets, offices, and other businesses.
LDA Chief Town Planner I, Assad-uz-Zaman, supervised the operations carried out by the enforcement teams, assisted by the Police.
According to the LDA officials, several notices were served on the owners of these buildings before the operations were carried out.
LDA Director General Tahir Farooq has directed the continuation of indiscriminate operations against violations of bylaws, illegal commercial buildings and non-payment of commercialisation fees in housing schemes and LDA-controlled areas.
