Ghee and cooking oil manufacturing companies have become completely unbridled as the price of ghee in retail has shot up by Rs80 per kilo in Karachi while that of cooking oil by Rs45 per liter.
As a result of a massive increase in prices, A Brand company’s cooking oil is now available for Rs645 per liter while ghee for Rs600 per kilo.
Shopkeepers say that hike in prices has resulted in a drop in sales.Companies’ representatives, on the other hand, say that the containers of Palm Oil stranded at the Karachi port are a reason for skyrocketing prices of these two items.
People say that overall inflation had made their lives miserable as everything was now out of their reach.—NNI
