KARACHI – Renowned Pakistani actress Mahira Khan on Saturday finally addressed the removal of her name and image from Bollywood film posters and music albums during heightened tensions between Pakistan and India.
Mahira, who gained widespread recognition on both sides of the border, made her Bollywood debut opposite superstar Shah Rukh Khan in the 2017 film Raees.
Despite her popularity, Hindu extremist groups pressured filmmakers to exclude her from the film’s promotional materials amid growing political hostility between the two nations.
In a recent interview, Mahira Khan opened up about the incident for the first time, saying she did not feel hurt or offended by the move.
“I didn’t feel bad for even a second when my picture was removed,” she said. “I actually laughed when I saw it. It didn’t affect me at all. It was such a small thing—something foolish—and I didn’t take it to heart.”
Despite the controversy, Mahira Khan remains one of Pakistan’s most celebrated actresses, known for her powerful performances in both television dramas and films.
