Deputy Commissioner Sundas Irshad has directed the price control magistrates to continue visits of markets and shops to check prices, supply and demand of daily used items for providing relief to peoples and strict action would also be taken against profiteers and hoarders in the district. While addressing a meeting held at district complex, she also directed the officers of agriculture department to ensure provision of fertilizers to farmers at government prices and punitive action be taken against fertilizers dealers involved in selling fertilizers at arbitrary prices.
DC also reviewed steps being taken to contain spread of smog and urged the officers of Environment, agriculture departments, district council and Secretary District Road Transport Authority to take effective measures against smoke emitting bricks kilns, vehicles and industrial units as well as to create awareness among farmers about hazards of burning of residues of crops so that farmers refrain from burning residues voluntarily.—Bashir Ahmad Rehmani
