The National Highways & Motorway Police (NH&MP) on Monday announced the reopening of the M-1 Motorway between Islamabad and Peshawar and the Islamabad-Peshawar section of the GT Road (N-5) to all traffic.
Parts of the M-14 Motorway have also been reopened, with traffic allowed between Hakla and Kot Belian and between Isa Khel and Yarik.
Restoration work continues on the Kot Belian-Isa Khel section and the M-1-Hazara Motorway connecting loop.
The routes were closed last week amid heightened security ahead of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s planned march on Islamabad, now scheduled to begin from Peshawar on October 4.
Security measures had been intensified in Attock and other areas, while authorities imposed restrictions on public gatherings in Punjab and Islamabad ahead of the protest.
