LAHORE – The investigation into alleged gang rape of foreign woman in Lahore’s Defence area has taken a major turn after details of her medical examination emerged, while police detained six more people in connection with the case.
The medical report reportedly found pressure marks on woman’s shoulder and injuries on her knee, while DNA samples were collected for forensic examination. Marks observed on specific parts of her body were also documented in the report.
Police said the woman was under the influence of intoxicants when she underwent medical examination. The suspects allegedly involved in the incident are said to be between 25 and 30 years old.
Six more Arrested
The investigation widened after Shahdara Police detained six additional individuals, who were later handed over to Defence-C Police for questioning.
According to investigators, the detained people are close friends of the main suspects and had remained in contact with them. Police are questioning them about the alleged assault as well as the whereabouts and activities of the main suspects.
Investigators reportedly traced the individuals through mobile phone records and location data.
Investigators are also examining what happened in the hours before the alleged assault. The woman, identified as D*** in the investigation, was reportedly at Johar Town café with her Pakistani friends Muskan and Aini before the incident. Pictures show the three women sitting together at the café, spending time together.
Investigators say Muskan and Aini later persuaded Diana to accompany them to an apartment belonging to their friends Ahmed and Mohsin. According to the investigation, Diana, Muskan and Aini went to the apartment, where three women and three men reportedly spent the night.
Investigators say Muskan and Aini left the apartment on Saturday morning while Diana remained there asleep. Police are now reconstructing the sequence of events inside and outside the apartment, examining communications between those involved and determining the movements of the suspects.
Mobile phone records, location data and forensic evidence are being examined as investigators attempt to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault.
Police say the investigation is continuing, while further action will be taken after the evidence and statements of those detained are assessed.
