LWMC swings into action against illegal dumping

As per the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, the Lahore Waste Management Company’s vigilance department is up and alert to deal with illegal dumping of solid waste across the City.

Vigilance wing has been made to regulate the solid waste management rules in the City.

The said Vigilance wing took action against illegal dumping and registered 08 FIRs in various areas including Park View, Mustafa Town and Azam Town, Faisal Town and Iqbal Town.

A challan has been issued to McDonald Jail Road as well over illegal dumping while a petition has been filed to register a FIR.

In addition to this, Quaid-i-Azam Industrial Estate has been fined Rs50,000, Bahria Society and several other societies have been fined Rs15,000 over illegal dumping.

CEO LWMC Imran Ali Sultan stated that “to maintain cleanliness is our utmost priority” and in this regard, the department is working day and night to provide exceptional cleanliness services to the citizens but at the same time such practices of illegal dumping and improper disposal of waste will not be tolerated.

He also said that the mission to maintain cleanliness in the city cannot be achieved without promising and positive attitude from public.

Furthermore, Spokesperson for the LWMC said that the department is working tirelessly to ensure proper and effective waste management services in the city.

Vigilance department is directed to take action on illegal dumping and improper disposal of waste and such violations in the city will not be spared, he added.
