MUZAFFARGARH – A retired general of Pakistan Army has been appointed as chief of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission, the region’s top recruitment body.
The appointment of Lieutenant General Retd Hidayatur Rehman to the AJK recruitment body was crucial for revival of the Service Commission, which remained non-operational for quite some time.
The regional government also appointed three other members of the body.
An official notification issued in this regard confirmed the appointment of chairman and three members for three years under Article 48 (2) of the AJK Constitution 1974.
It mentioned the appointment of Lt-Gen Hidayatur Rehman as AJK PCS chief, former secretary Aijaz Hussain Lone, ex-director general Hafiz Muhammad Ibrahim Aziz, and former district and sessions judge Khawaja Saeed Bashir Butt as members of the Public Service Commission.
The appointment will help the AJK government to resuscitate the Public Service Commission as the new chairman remained in key positions, including corps commander in Peshawar and inspector general training and evaluation in Army’s General Headquarters.
