The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) demolished illegal constructions on the Canal Bank Road on Thursday.
LDA also sealed 38 illegal commercial buildings and premises that defaulted on commercialisation fees in LDA-controlled areas and various housing schemes.
LDA’s Town Planning Wing demolished buildings on the main Canal Bank Road for violations of bylaws. It also sealed 16 buildings in Gulberg and New Garden Town and 22 in Allama Iqbal Town and Subzazar Housing Scheme during operations against illegal commercial use and nonpayment of commercialisation fees.
The sealed premises include Rehman Clinic, Ali’s Salon, a private school, grocery stores, food points, offices, and other businesses.
LDA Chief Town Planner I, Assad-uz-Zaman, supervised the operations carried out by the enforcement teams, assisted by heavy machinery and the Police.
According to LDA officials, several notices were served on the owners of these buildings prior to the operations being carried out.
LDA Director General Tahir Farooq has directed the continuation of indiscriminate operations against violations of bylaws, encroachments, illegal commercial buildings and non-payment of commercialisation fees in housing schemes and LDA-controlled areas.
