LAHORE—The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) retrieved 45 kanals of land worth tens of millions of rupees from illegal occupation during operations in LDA Avenue-I Housing Scheme.
The legal team won the case relating to 35 plots in LDA Avenue-I Housing Scheme after 10 year 10-year-long litigation.
On getting a court order, LDA teams retrieved these plots after removing illegal constructions and encroachments on 45 kanals of illegally occupied land. LDA teams also evicted over 400 cattle from illegally occupied plots.
LDA Avenue-I Housing Scheme Director, Umar Sohaib, supervised the operations, which were carried out by the enforcement teams with the help of heavy machinery and the Police.
According to the LDA officials, these plots will be allotted to the affectees of LDA Avenue-I Housing Scheme.
LDA Director General Tahir Farooq has directed continuing indiscriminate operations against land mafia and encroachments in LDA-controlled areas and housing schemes.
He directed the construction of boundary walls, carrying out fencing and displaying boards indicating that the properties were owned by the LDA. He also directed the removal of encroachments from different areas in phases.
